Chapter 3~4

The Colors

    Dorothy started to go to Emerald City. Munchkins welcomed Dorothy, and they thought Dorothy was a witch.  Munchkins like blue and only witches can wear white. Dorothy waered blue and white cheked dress, so  Munchkins said they knew Dorothy was a friendly witch.

   Sometimes, we give meaning to the color. The white color means purity and cleanliness. The red stands for passion, sometimes it means death., so Koreans don't write person's name in red. I like yellow because it is a symbol of spring. I kike spring season. What particular color do you prefer? or Do you have a special meaning particular color in your country?

The Scarecrow & The Trip's Purpose

    Dorothy saved the Scarecrew in the corn farm. The Scarecrew doesn't have brains, so he wanted get some brains from Oz. He asked her why she want to go home instead of here where is more beautiful. She thought  home is the better than any place. I agree that! When I arrive at home after finishing a travel, I can feel my home is the best even though the travel was so beautilful and atractive. Anywas, so the Scarecrew joined her trip!

Charlotte's Web - Chapter 4. - Kim

Chapter 4. This part doesn't have many story as well. This chapter has about Wilbur(pig)'s life of day and his feeling. Eat breakfast, play with friend, take a nap, think about by himself and so on...Today was rain and storm. Today won't come Fern(his best friend). Wilbur wanted to play with someone. He was alone. He asked all of them around his friend, but all of friends said `No'. At night of day, He cried in his barn. When Wilbur was falling a sleep, someone asked to him "Do you want to friend?" It sounded rather thin. Wilbur asked "Who are you?" He couldn't see someone. After some time, someone answered "we can meet in the morning. go to sleep."........and the end of this chapter. I really curious next chapter I really want to know who is he or she. I expect next story.^_^

The Wizard of Oz (2) Dorothy with the Cyclone (HJ Lee)

Chapter 1~2

 

     Dorothy lived with gray color ; her other arounding was only gray - the house,  ant Em's eyes, cheeks, lips, uncle Henry's rough boots, even burned grass. However, Dorothy and Toto her dog were not gray!

     One day, the cyclone move them to Munchkins' world where was so beautiful. Have you ever imagined this? When I was young, I used to do everyday. I wanted go to Neverland where Peter pan lives. ^^

    Dorothy met three Munchkins, who live in the East Oz, and a good Witch of the North. The Witch said Oz was not a civilized country, and they have wictes and wizard. Dorothy and Toto had should lived them, but she didn't want that. She wanted go back home, so they let her know that if  Dorothy go back home, she must go to the City of Emerald and Oz will help her.

    So, Dorothy's journey began. If I was Dorothy, I maybe would live there because there was beautiful instead of gray. In addition, there are many friends munchikins. Although, the journey was exciting too! She gave silver shoes and a migic kiss, so I think, she was not sad or afraid anymore. I  am expected coming her story.

Charlotte's Web - Chapter 3. - Kim

Chapter 3. The Wilbur(pig) came to Uncle Homer's barn. It was very large and old. Fern every afternoon come to see him, and just looking him all afternoon after came to her home. After some days, someone told to Wilbur that you can out this barn. Wilbur looked around. Goose said to him, "a board is loose." Wilbur wanted to come out the barn, because he thought there is so small for him. He wanted freedom. So he tried come out the barn. After that, he enjoyed his freedom. However Uncle Homer saw him, and he started to catch him. Many around animals helped him. Uncle Homer thought good idea. He started cook potatoes and foods, and called Wilbur. Wilbur's heart began to shake. Because smell was so good. Many animal said to him that is trick so don't go. But Wilbur was almost arrive Uncle Homer's house. Uncle Homer's put him to barn again. and came back to home. Wilbur ate a lot of food. He thought, `I'm really too young to go out into the world alone`. and he fall a sleep.
When I read this story, I thought about Circus elephants. Circus elephants always training with trainers. Sometimes they hit elephants. Start of training, elephants want a freedom. Every time elephant try to freedom. But after one month, three month...They give up, and They began to tame.
And they don't try to freedom. After They think. 'Here is the best place to stay.' Nowadays many students don't try to challenge. Because they think, 'here is the best place to stay.' Therefore, they don`t know about failure. When they have fail, they can't solve that. They will collapse. However we have to try everything even if we fail. when we have a failure, we can know how to solve this. We are afraid of failure. Also I am afraid of failure. BUT I know one way of challenge. It is very easy. Go to Travel. We can feel many things and learn to many things.

The Wizard of Oz (1) Prolog (HJ Lee)

    The second book I chose is 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz'.

    This book is known well as books, musicals, dramas, movies, and animations. The poster was the most popular movie The Wizard of Oz  made in 1939. Have you ever seen that movie? I haven't yet. The reason I chose, when I go to Chapters (As you know, my favorite hobby is visit book store and buy a book.^^) I saw the book. The book cover was cute red, and I knew the book name because it's famous book. Howewver, I haven't read. I have just seen musical when I was 5 years. I can remember only the heroine name 'Dorothy', caracters of a lion, and a robert(in fact, it's tin woodman). I heard this book has not only fun story, but also a satre. That's why children and many adult read this book. In addition, I love fairy tales because in the fairy tales have a lot of dreams, lessons!! Specially, this book has many adjectives and adverbs, so it is helpful my vocavulrary (So, I would like tag some short words with meaning every postes).

    L. Frank Baum (1856~1919) is a 'The wonderful Wizard of Oz''s author. He had experienced a variety of occupations. While he travels from Washington, he used to be a rearing chickens men, marketing men, salesperson, salesman, China travel staff, actor, newspaper reporter, magazine editor-in-chief.

   With the encouragement of his mother-in-law, he began writing a book in 1898.  'OZ' name origined from his document on the shelves. Its first section was A~N, and second was O~Z.  He chose OZ that means world of imaginaton. He wrote several fairy tales and poems, and finally "the great Wizard of Oz" was published in 1900.


   The original book contains Denslow's pictures, but I will attach another picture which drew famous Korean mordern illustrator 'Minji Kim', because I like her pictures are colorful and lyrical.

The Little Prince (10) - The Pince's Death or Return & Epilogue (HJ Lee)

Chapter 24~27

The Prince's Death or Return

 

 

   It is a last post my first book! The last story is say but beautiful. Due to meeting the fox, he decide back to his planet though his death, and the day was its anniversary. The prince gave me many beautiful words in the chapter. It is so great that I would like to share you!

 

 



 

"What makes the desert beautiful is that somewhere it hides a well..."

 

"The stars are beautiful, because of a flower that cannot be seen."

 

 

      I wnat to ask say it. What or why you beautiful is? Do you have a well or a flower or.. what do you have?

 

 

 

 

     The prince was disappered. He didn't expaln whether he was dead or not. However, I believe he went to his planet where his lovely friends lives.


 

 

Antonine de Saint Exupery

 

    He is the author of The Little Prince. He was a pilot and adventurer. Perhaps this book reflected in his adventures. The same as the little prince he wrote, he died in the desert in 1944, and the body wasn't found. He might hoped to see his prince.

 

 

   I think what he wanted to say this book is in the one of fox ㅡ the prince's friens ㅡ words,

 

"What is essential is invisible to eye."

 

 

 

 

 

 

<Epilogue>

 

 

     I am done my first book and post. It was a beutiful, useful,  valuable time for me.  I am proud myself beacause this is an achievement result of my falling. I will start new book soon. I already bought before I finished it. Although my English reading and writing skill is low, but as the prince said, what is essential is invisible to eye, I will continue to achieve some worth steadily.
