Chapter 3~4

The Colors

    Dorothy started to go to Emerald City. Munchkins welcomed Dorothy, and they thought Dorothy was a witch.  Munchkins like blue and only witches can wear white. Dorothy waered blue and white cheked dress, so  Munchkins said they knew Dorothy was a friendly witch.

   Sometimes, we give meaning to the color. The white color means purity and cleanliness. The red stands for passion, sometimes it means death., so Koreans don't write person's name in red. I like yellow because it is a symbol of spring. I kike spring season. What particular color do you prefer? or Do you have a special meaning particular color in your country?

The Scarecrow & The Trip's Purpose

    Dorothy saved the Scarecrew in the corn farm. The Scarecrew doesn't have brains, so he wanted get some brains from Oz. He asked her why she want to go home instead of here where is more beautiful. She thought  home is the better than any place. I agree that! When I arrive at home after finishing a travel, I can feel my home is the best even though the travel was so beautilful and atractive. Anywas, so the Scarecrew joined her trip!

Charlotte's Web - Chapter 4. - Kim

Chapter 4. This part doesn't have many story as well. This chapter has about Wilbur(pig)'s life of day and his feeling. Eat breakfast, play with friend, take a nap, think about by himself and so on...Today was rain and storm. Today won't come Fern(his best friend). Wilbur wanted to play with someone. He was alone. He asked all of them around his friend, but all of friends said `No'. At night of day, He cried in his barn. When Wilbur was falling a sleep, someone asked to him "Do you want to friend?" It sounded rather thin. Wilbur asked "Who are you?" He couldn't see someone. After some time, someone answered "we can meet in the morning. go to sleep."........and the end of this chapter. I really curious next chapter I really want to know who is he or she. I expect next story.^_^

The Wizard of Oz (2) Dorothy with the Cyclone (HJ Lee)

Chapter 1~2

 

     Dorothy lived with gray color ; her other arounding was only gray - the house,  ant Em's eyes, cheeks, lips, uncle Henry's rough boots, even burned grass. However, Dorothy and Toto her dog were not gray!

     One day, the cyclone move them to Munchkins' world where was so beautiful. Have you ever imagined this? When I was young, I used to do everyday. I wanted go to Neverland where Peter pan lives. ^^

    Dorothy met three Munchkins, who live in the East Oz, and a good Witch of the North. The Witch said Oz was not a civilized country, and they have wictes and wizard. Dorothy and Toto had should lived them, but she didn't want that. She wanted go back home, so they let her know that if  Dorothy go back home, she must go to the City of Emerald and Oz will help her.

    So, Dorothy's journey began. If I was Dorothy, I maybe would live there because there was beautiful instead of gray. In addition, there are many friends munchikins. Although, the journey was exciting too! She gave silver shoes and a migic kiss, so I think, she was not sad or afraid anymore. I  am expected coming her story.

Charlotte's Web - Chapter 3. - Kim

Chapter 3. The Wilbur(pig) came to Uncle Homer's barn. It was very large and old. Fern every afternoon come to see him, and just looking him all afternoon after came to her home. After some days, someone told to Wilbur that you can out this barn. Wilbur looked around. Goose said to him, "a board is loose." Wilbur wanted to come out the barn, because he thought there is so small for him. He wanted freedom. So he tried come out the barn. After that, he enjoyed his freedom. However Uncle Homer saw him, and he started to catch him. Many around animals helped him. Uncle Homer thought good idea. He started cook potatoes and foods, and called Wilbur. Wilbur's heart began to shake. Because smell was so good. Many animal said to him that is trick so don't go. But Wilbur was almost arrive Uncle Homer's house. Uncle Homer's put him to barn again. and came back to home. Wilbur ate a lot of food. He thought, `I'm really too young to go out into the world alone`. and he fall a sleep.
When I read this story, I thought about Circus elephants. Circus elephants always training with trainers. Sometimes they hit elephants. Start of training, elephants want a freedom. Every time elephant try to freedom. But after one month, three month...They give up, and They began to tame.
And they don't try to freedom. After They think. 'Here is the best place to stay.' Nowadays many students don't try to challenge. Because they think, 'here is the best place to stay.' Therefore, they don`t know about failure. When they have fail, they can't solve that. They will collapse. However we have to try everything even if we fail. when we have a failure, we can know how to solve this. We are afraid of failure. Also I am afraid of failure. BUT I know one way of challenge. It is very easy. Go to Travel. We can feel many things and learn to many things.

Veil of Roses

The Wizard of Oz (1) Prolog (HJ Lee)

    The second book I chose is 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz'.

    This book is known well as books, musicals, dramas, movies, and animations. The poster was the most popular movie The Wizard of Oz  made in 1939. Have you ever seen that movie? I haven't yet. The reason I chose, when I go to Chapters (As you know, my favorite hobby is visit book store and buy a book.^^) I saw the book. The book cover was cute red, and I knew the book name because it's famous book. Howewver, I haven't read. I have just seen musical when I was 5 years. I can remember only the heroine name 'Dorothy', caracters of a lion, and a robert(in fact, it's tin woodman). I heard this book has not only fun story, but also a satre. That's why children and many adult read this book. In addition, I love fairy tales because in the fairy tales have a lot of dreams, lessons!! Specially, this book has many adjectives and adverbs, so it is helpful my vocavulrary (So, I would like tag some short words with meaning every postes).

    L. Frank Baum (1856~1919) is a 'The wonderful Wizard of Oz''s author. He had experienced a variety of occupations. While he travels from Washington, he used to be a rearing chickens men, marketing men, salesperson, salesman, China travel staff, actor, newspaper reporter, magazine editor-in-chief.

   With the encouragement of his mother-in-law, he began writing a book in 1898.  'OZ' name origined from his document on the shelves. Its first section was A~N, and second was O~Z.  He chose OZ that means world of imaginaton. He wrote several fairy tales and poems, and finally "the great Wizard of Oz" was published in 1900.


   The original book contains Denslow's pictures, but I will attach another picture which drew famous Korean mordern illustrator 'Minji Kim', because I like her pictures are colorful and lyrical.

The Little Prince (10) - The Pince's Death or Return & Epilogue (HJ Lee)

Chapter 24~27

The Prince's Death or Return

 

 

   It is a last post my first book! The last story is say but beautiful. Due to meeting the fox, he decide back to his planet though his death, and the day was its anniversary. The prince gave me many beautiful words in the chapter. It is so great that I would like to share you!

 

 



 

"What makes the desert beautiful is that somewhere it hides a well..."

 

"The stars are beautiful, because of a flower that cannot be seen."

 

 

      I wnat to ask say it. What or why you beautiful is? Do you have a well or a flower or.. what do you have?

 

 

 

 

     The prince was disappered. He didn't expaln whether he was dead or not. However, I believe he went to his planet where his lovely friends lives.


 

 

Antonine de Saint Exupery

 

    He is the author of The Little Prince. He was a pilot and adventurer. Perhaps this book reflected in his adventures. The same as the little prince he wrote, he died in the desert in 1944, and the body wasn't found. He might hoped to see his prince.

 

 

   I think what he wanted to say this book is in the one of fox ㅡ the prince's friens ㅡ words,

 

"What is essential is invisible to eye."

 

 

 

 

 

 

<Epilogue>

 

 

     I am done my first book and post. It was a beutiful, useful,  valuable time for me.  I am proud myself beacause this is an achievement result of my falling. I will start new book soon. I already bought before I finished it. Although my English reading and writing skill is low, but as the prince said, what is essential is invisible to eye, I will continue to achieve some worth steadily.

The Little Prince (9) - The Council with the Fox (HJ Lee)

 

 

    The fox sais about 'Tame'. He told the prince that tame means to establish ties, and if the prince want it, the fox wanted to be tamed from the prince. He ramed the fox, as a result, he realized important point finally.

"He was only a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes.

But I have made him my  friend, and now he is unique in all the world."

    I think the prince found absolute happiness (Did you remember my last post? ^^), and love is might one of that.   I believe that to be a special person from someone is happy. After he knew it, he may decide to go his planet where his rose is.

   The fox said, "If you come at 4pm then at 3pm I shall begin to be happy."  Have you ever had such
paexperience? Yes, I have. ^^ I think happy from relationship is really big and great. The fox wanted to teach him that even he took on the hardships and the pain of parting.



 

Charlotte's Web - Chapter 2. - Kim

Chapter 2. Fern loves Wilbur(pig name). She take care him all the time. They are always together. Her father has made his small house in garden. Fern everyday go to his house and play with him. After many times, Wilbur was grow. Now he is big. unfortunatlly they can't feed wilbur anymore. Fern's father suggest her sell him to his uncle Homer. For sure, she was cried and yelled. But Uncle Homer took him from his house. This part doesn't have my opinion. After i will talk about Chapter 3. it will be talk about Uncle Homer's house and escape!! Expect my Chapter 3.^_^

Charlotte's Web - Chapter 1. - Kim

Chapter 1. Fern's father will kill a runt pig because this pig is so weak and small. However Fern(his daughter) want to feed this runt pig. she said that you can't kill anybody. Finally, Fern's father didn't kill this pig because he saw her tears. She take care her baby?(this pig is for same her baby) Always children take care of small things as well. But we aren't. We are not care of small things because of success, money, dreams and so on. Sometimes we have to think about our life of back. And don't forget what is the most important thing is.

I changed my new book. My book name is Charlotte's Web. I chose alittle bit easy one. First page is one pretty girl and she is holding a runt pig. I think that this book will be interesting. for sure. expect my new book!!!!!

Chapter 16~20

7th Planet The Earth

 

 

     The prince arrived on the Earth in desert. The prince met several things like a sanke, a flower, Ecoes, lots of roses.

I hope write about some conversations he talked in the desert in chapter 16~20. The conversations have some similarities to live us.

 

 

A Snake

 

 I'm intersting in about two conversation of snake which the prince meet first on the Earth and the prince.

1.
The prince : "It is a little lonley in the desert..."
The snake : "It is also lonely among men."

2.
The prince : "You are no thicker than a finger..."
The snake : "But I am more powerful than the finger of a king."

 

 

 A Flower

 

   The flower with only three petals said, 
"They have no roots and wind blows them away, so that makes their life very difficult. "

Lots of Roses

 

When the prince saw about five thousand roses which are same his rose, he gazed at them. Because he and she knew his rose is the only one in the world.

"we are roses," the roses said.

 

  

 

    When I read the conversation, I realized that the conversatins resembles to the world we live considerably!

I wnat to say about  Absolute & Relative, and Contradiction in our life.

1. The snake knew it's lonely among men, not even in desert, and own power that is not  appearance.

2. The flower worried about people because they don't have root. However, the fact, because people don't have root, we can move freely.

3. The prince wanted friend, but what came back to him from echoes, which is also himself, is 'alone'.

4. Only one his rose ㅡ the prince belived ㅡ was only one of many roses.

Isn't it fun? What do you think about that?
Maybe we live in a number of contradictions.
It is our choice whether relative or absolute and happiness or unhappiness in our life.

I believe that since the prince had choosen 'relative unhappiness', he cried.








 

 

The Little Prince (7) - The 4th, 5th, 6th Planets (HJ Lee)

Chapter 13~15

4th Planet ; a Businessman

 

 

    The 4th planet belong to a businessman who believe that the purpose of life is to own lots of materials.  However don't I believe that!

   Do you know happy guy Nick Vujicic who lives without arms and legs?

 

  He don't have any arms and legs, but he say he ia happy! He knows and says that the visible materials like money, physical health, a nice house and a luxury car is not more important than the invisible things like faith, love, hope, truth, and a sense of accomplishment. Because material will be disappears, but the invisible presence will be eternal. How about your opinions?I don't agree almost all his thought, butI was specially impressed one of his words,

'When you get an idea before anyone else, you take out a patent on it: it is yours.' 

This is the secret to make even my own things! Let's try!! ^^

 

5th Planet (The Smallest one) ; a Lamplighter

 

     Have you ever heard a planet have 1440 sunset every day? I love very much sunset! I can't forget when I had seen sunset in summer Canada 5 years ago. How exciting story which he is able to watch the 1440 times sunset everyday!

 

     On the other hand, I thought the lamplighter resembles me in  various aspects. Sometimes, I use to work harder and harder. Not only I like to work excessively, but also I don't like to work extremely. I feel really pathetic for him, yet I am sympathetic him also.

 

6th Planet ; a geographer

 

 

The geographer belived geographies are the books which are most concerned with matters of consequence. Also he said geographers write of. He know what is eternal things yet?

 

The prince asked 'ephemearal(; lasting a very short time)' means. The geographer replied that 'ephemearal' is in danger of speedy disappearance. I think ephemearal thing is the visible materials which I said in 4th planet. What kind of thins you think ephemearal ones?

The Little Prince (6) - The 1st, 2nd, 3rd Planets (HJ Lee)

 

Chapter 10~12

 

 

1st Planet ; a king

 

   There is a king. The king orderd the prince to everyting like to sit, to ask, even to yarm. :)

The king fundamentally insted upon was that his authourity should be respected.

 

   As say in the bible ; "And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. (Luke 6:13)" The king probably didn't know this simple law.  In my opinion, if the king has respected his people before he order, the king would have been respected by his people. I believe that 'Authority' is made ​​from the others, not by himself.

 

   Do you know? Nobody has lived the plenet! Why? Sure enough, that is I said ^^

2nd Planet ; a Conceited man

 

   'Conceited' means characteristic of false pride or  having an exaggerated sense of self-importance. The second planet was inhabited by a conceited man. The conceited man extremely wants to get to admire by the people.

 

   Some people only want to be a hero like the conceited man. A book, 'Whale Done!: The Power of Positive Relationships' was one of the best seller. Have you read the book? I have read it. The book said that words of praise made a lot of positive results. I agree that. Doing well someting deserve praise.  I think, however, the admiration should be a result. When the admiration is to be purpose,  It will made false pride, and he never will not be happy because no one likes him like 'the conceited man'.

 

 

3rd Planet ; a Tippler

 

 

   The the third planet the little prince visited was where a tipper lived. The prince asked him why he is drinking, then the tippler replied that is to forget he is ashamed.

 

   I think this is escapism. Occasionally, we can see similar the situation around us. They are addicts. There are many kind of addiction such as alcohol, drugs, sex, work, game and so on. According to the reserch, the reason of addiction is it is fun of course, but another big reason is avoid their own reality.

 

  Sometimes, I also want to run away from my problem!   I know this is not the best way. Even so, I wnat to say that we can never get anything if we avoid our reality. We need attitude with courage to challenge without fear!!

The Little Prince (5) - The Reasons of His Escape (HJ Lee)

Chapter 5~9

1. The Baobabs

 

 

   The little prince had to  cut  'Baobab' tree regularly before grow it. Frankly, the little prince wanted  that the sheep eat baobabs to tear it down, but I think that getting rid of Baobabs is his work.

 

   Sometimes, I also put off my work to someone. If I don't do my work, what I do is bigger and bigger, then I cannot control like the picture that is Baobabs swallow the star. I thought I need to cut my bad habits before grow it in order to dominates my life. Now, what is my Baobab? It may be lazy to study English, of course! :) I want to be good at English! What about Charlse and Kim's Baobabs are?

  

 

2. Sadness

 

   The little prince really likes sunset. When he were feeling sad,  he always saw sunsets because sunsets are wonderful so it make feels better. One day, he saw the sun set 44 times. That means he was very sad. I think it is second reason of his escape from his star.

 

  When I feel sad, I usually play piano or read books. Sometimes I just use to cry for an hour until fall asleep exhausted. What do you do when you are depressed?
 

 

3. A Flower
 

  There are three of active volcanoes, two of dormant volcanoes, and a flower in the pince star B-612.

 

 The little prince had took care of the flower, but the flower required his love more and more.  Anyway eventually, The little prince was exhausted. Everyone aspires to greater love.  I think the duty of love is not love. Love flows from the heart, not obligation or responsibility. In mt opinion, that's why he had been exhausted and planed to leave from his star.

 

The flower said to him "I'm sorry, forgive me. You can leave." with the tears. Before leaving, the little prince makes the glass cover for his flower. She repented too late. Let's live a life without regrets!

 

 

 

I believe that it is the three reasons to decide his travels, the baobabs, his sadness,  his flower.

 

 

It is time to start to his travels to another stars!!
